What is a precision rectifier (The problem with normal rectifier circuit)

In a normal rectifier circuit, the diode conducts only when the input is greater than the cut-in voltage (forward voltage ) of the diode. And that limits the use of this rectifier circuits for the small signal conditioning and processing. (e.g AM demodulation)
And in such applications, the precision rectifier circuit is used.

The precision rectifier circuit is designed using the op-amp and diode, where due to negative feedback in the circuit diode behaves like an ideal diode. (And this circuit is also known as the super diode)

The modified precision rectifier circuit:
The problem with the precision rectifier circuit is that when the input to this rectifier is negative, op-amp operates in the open loop configuration and it goes into the saturation. Which limits the maximum operating frequency. And it can be prevented by using the modified precision rectifier. In this circuit, two diodes are used, and the second diode prevents op-amp from going into the saturation, which increases the frequency response of the op-amp.

Precision Full wave rectifier:
Using the precision half wave rectifier and adder circuit it is possible to design precision full wave rectifier. In the video, it has been explained how it can be designed.
