While aboard the International Space Station, astronaut and inventor Jeanette Epps received a surprise greeting from a USPTO examiner: her twin sister Janet.

Epps is a flight engineer and member of NASA’s Crew-8 mission, about halfway through her 6-month mission aboard the floating space lab known as the ISS. She also spoke with us about how innovators can help with space exploration, what it means to inspire the next generation of inventors, and daily tasks like reclaiming water from a urine processor.

We are in awe. Thank you for showing the world what women innovators can do, Jeanette!
