Attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion persist, disproportionately affecting Black women in upper management roles, while simultaneously facing media scrutiny both within and outside our community. Are some of us inadvertently contributing to this by allowing ourselves to be pitted against each other at work? Public figures like Amanda Seales and Angel Reese have been criticized, often under the guise of being unlikable—a standard that unfairly burdens Black women. This expectation stems from the roots of white supremacy and must be unequivocally rejected.
