Описание к видео Mounted Police Station Horse Stables, Abandoned Since 2010

The old Hamlin Avenue Police Station was designed in 1898 by architect Louis Kamper. It became the headquarters for the Mounted Division of the Detroit Police Department's 9th Precinct.
The remaining portion stands at the corner of John R St. & E. Bethune, but it's known as the Old Hamlin Ave. Station because this section of Bethune used to be called Hamlin Avenue.

We look at some old Sanborn Fire Insurance maps of the area.
One from 1897, a year before the station was built.
The next map is from 1915, showing the completed building and the street name change.
The next map is from 1950. Part of the building is labeled "Police Station 9th Precinct," and another section says "Mounted Police Division Livery."

In 1954, the Detroit Police Department did some restructuring, and the 9th Precinct was closed down. At some point, the main part of the Old Hamlin Ave. Station was demolished, but the Mounted Police still used the stables up through the early 2000's.
It's been standing abandoned though, since at least 2010.

Disclaimer: Pinetop Jackson does not break into buildings.
Every location we document is open with no sings warning against trespassing present at the time of visit. We do not vandalize. While we do respect the graffiti and street art encountered, we do not practice this art.
Our goal and our intent is to document these historically significant locations for posterity, and we enter them with respect.
We take nothing but photos (and video!) and leave nothing but footprints.
