This truly was an EXTREME range hood filter clean. Thick, sticky oil and fats – this filter hadn’t been cleaned for a long time.

Usually, I would use laundry liquid or Tricleanium in hot water but I ran out of both of those. So, I found some Oven Power and thought – hey, I wonder if this will work. It bloody did!!

Oven Power is safe to use for range hood filters but it is powerful stuff so don’t use it straight. Always add it to hot water and mix it in before you add the range hood filters.

NOTE – this is not a caustic oven cleaner. It is enviro friendly.
NEVER use oven cleaner sprays on range hood filters because you can damage them – I see this all the time.

The main products I use for cleaning range hood filters:

Today I used OzKleen’s Oven Power mixed in hot water (in the bath). It turns out that it’s good stuff. And as a bonus it is totally Aussie! – https://www.ozkleen.com.

Other options include Tricleanium (also Aussie) and most laundry liquids. Used the same way, in a bath with hot water.

For stubborn grease I did finish the job with some Jif.
