ArcPy Python Coding Lesson: Hurricane Impact Analysis

Описание к видео ArcPy Python Coding Lesson: Hurricane Impact Analysis

Class is in session! In this ArcPy Python coding lesson, I will give you some practical lessons on how you can go about using the spatial analysis functionality of geographic information system (GIS) software in the form of Python computer code to do an analysis of hurricane's impact.

This lesson was taken from my teaching at the Rochester Institute of Technology when hurricane Ian was crossing over the state of Florida in the United States. Specifically, I'll show you how all of the software functionalities of the ArcGIS Pro software environment can be utilized using ArcPy Python computer code. I specifically will guide you through writing ArcPy Python computer code using the VS code coding environment. I'll show you how to write code to do functionality such as intersect, select by location, exporting records, and creating stand-alone tables based on summary statistics.

Mastering ArcPy Python computer programming skills like these can be an excellent asset to your career in GIS and enable you to do more powerful analysis than can be done with use of desktop tools. Additionally, this ArcPy Python coding lesson can also show you how these skills can be apply to pressing needs in the disaster management application domain of GIS.
