We've been towing our CR-V for 13 years with the same Blue Ox towbar. All that time we've dealt with binding when trying to disconnect on curves or hills. Roadmaster Sterling to the rescue!
When it comes to flat towing, we're now happily unbound, thanks to a conversation with fellow RVing friends. We mentioned to them that we were planning a video about the techniques we use to release our towbar on hills and curves, and they looked at us like we were crazy, telling us they'd never dealt with that issue before.
It turns out that the brand of towbar they were using, a Roadmaster, is an all-terrain, non-binding design that releases easily under almost any conditions, not just on the straight & level.
We recently visited Roadmaster at their plant in Vancouver, WA, where we not only took a tour, but actually saw Sterling towbars being made... like a live episode a favorite show: "How It's Made."
It was great to see that this type of industry is alive and well in the USA, and we're eager to try out this impressive piece of equipment for ourselves. After some initial testing, we're off to a great start!
