It isn’t. The real test begins when I bring this abandoned puppy home to my giant black mastiff, Hank, and realize the only ground the little dog trusts is whatever vibrates like the road that almost killed him.

This is a rescue and recovery story with no graphic content. It’s about fear, healing, and the strange way a highway pup chooses a massive dog as his only safe place. I try to do the “responsible” thing, to give this rescued puppy to a perfect new family, but Hank and the little Labrador have already made their own decision—and it’s nothing like the plan on paper.
