In Conversation with new Max Planck Director László Székelyhidi

We are proud to welcome László Székelyhidi as a new Director at our Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences. As a Professor at Leipzig University, the mathematician Székelyhidi knows our institute quite well. His research interests focus on partial differential equations, the calculus of variations, and their application in fluid mechanics, elasticity theory, and differential geometry.

In this interview, he talks about the beauty of mathematics, his inspirations and passion for math, his advice for young mathematicians, and his new scientific perspective as Director of the Max Planck Institute.
