New-generation niche French compact SUV arrives in Australia with premium fit-out.

Like all good French cuisine, the new Renault Captur is rich and buttery – but you’ll pay more for the experience.

The second-generation Renault Captur is a much improved product, eclipsing its predecessor in every respect – technology, safety, fit and finish and refinement.

It drives better too and has more room. But the repositioned model is significantly more expensive too – a trend that many brands seem to be taking in Australia.

While there is plenty of appeal in the new model – including its sleek new design, punchy turbo-petrol engine, dual-clutch automatic and multiple digital displays – the small front-drive SUV struggles in terms of value compared to its Asian rivals.
