Mid Level Pronunciation

Описание к видео Mid Level Pronunciation

This video deals with the way in which consonant clusters are pronounced. It defines a syllable and shows the learner how to identify the number of syllables in a word. It is a continuation of the Beginners Pronunciation video in which vowels and consonants—44 in number, unlike the 26 letters of the English alphabet—are explained and numerous words are given for learning the pronunciation of each of these 44 sounds. In this video there is a combination of consonants together to form a cluster which is sometimes difficult for learners whose mother tongue does not have such cluster of consonants. Here numerous different clusters are listed and each of them had many words as examples to master their correct pronunciation. While watching the video each learner needs to pronounce each word aloud many times to get the correct pronunciation. After this a list of single syllable words show how number of letters does not determine a single syllable. This also needs practice. Before learning accent patterns in the Advanced pronunciation video which will come immediately after this video, learners need to identify the number of syllables in a word and this is also shown with many examples where the syllable structure is illustrated.
