Due to an assembly error on my part, the reference coils on my 3 EBC 6 units all failed and they ceased being able to calibrate. The issue was that to secure the reference coils I used an epoxy adhesive and I believe it removed the coating on the magnet wire causing the coils to short out.

After some extensive testing and experimentation to find the perfect solution moving forward I came to the conclusion that for this version of the EBC that there was no ideal reference coil that I could make and use.

But the experiments led me to think differently about the best solution. The reference allows for an increase in precision. The use of a inductor as a reference makes the comparison a sine wave to sine wave comparison. But the sensor signal isn't a perfect sine wave and the reference doesn't have to be either. In fact a capacitor as a reference makes a nice triangle wave with an appropriate phase shift that achieves a seemingly better outcome.
