xTool F1 ULTRA Engraving Knives - Stainless and High Carbon Steel

Описание к видео xTool F1 ULTRA Engraving Knives - Stainless and High Carbon Steel

In this video we are going to use the xTool F1 ULTRA to engrave a variety of steel and stainless steel materials used in the craft of knife making. For example, we have AEB-L Stainless Steel, 14C28N Stainless Steel, 1095 High Carbon Steel, and some 420J1 Stainless Steel knives. Through the video I will share with you all of my settings so you can achieve similar results.

This video topic was a suggestion from subscriber Mike and he very generously sent me the material samples, please go support him at the links below, thanks Mike!

The results from the engraving were very good in my opinion, but I am not an expert when it comes to knife making or the chemistry of materials. I wonder if the removal of the surface material will eventually lead to accelerated rusting and limit the use of these knives to decorative pieces? Let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Should the knives go through a passivation process afterwards? Will this ruin the engraving? Or should the type of marking for knives be limited to laser annealing? I would love to hear from anyone who has a lot of experience in this area.

Regardless, the results of both the blue laser and fiber laser were very good. The fiber laser creates crisp images with lots of detail and uniformity, whereas the blue laser can also produce nice details but the color consistency with multi-colored designs can be challenging. It will take lots of experimenting to get consistent results with colors on stainless steel.
