Exploring Tikona Fort in Monsoon || Weekend Hike near Mumbai & Pune || JeetKahanHai?

There’s something magical about the Sahyadri ranges in the monsoon. The dusty trails turn into lush green carpets, the sky is painted with drifting clouds, and the sound of rain mixes with the rustling of leaves. On this weekend escape, I set out to explore Tikona Fort, one of Maharashtra’s most beautiful hill forts located near Pawna Lake.

The journey began from Mumbai with a countryside ride through rustic villages, a quick breakfast stop, and reaching a serene property where we stayed overnight. Surrounded by farms and valleys, the stay itself felt like a retreat into nature before the real adventure began.

The next morning, we started our hike to Tikona Fort. The fort gets its name from its unique triangular shape (Tikona = triangle). The monsoon had turned the entire trail into a paradise of green, with mist swirling across the Sahyadri hills. Along the way, we stopped at the Hanuman and Ram Mandirs, ancient shrines that reflect the deep cultural and spiritual significance of this region.

As we climbed the stone steps, the fort revealed breathtaking views of Pawna Lake and the surrounding valleys. The higher we went, the stronger the winds and the thicker the mist, until finally reaching the summit where the world seemed to disappear into clouds.

Of course, no hike to Tikona is complete without an encounter with its famous residents - the monkeys 🐒. Mischievous yet fascinating, they reminded us that this fort belongs to nature first.

The trail, though short, is filled with experiences - narrow stone steps and slippery patches from the rains but is refreshing, full of history, and with clouds swirling around and the sound of rain adding rhythm to every step, making it perfect for a weekend getaway near Mumbai and Pune. Tikona Fort in monsoon is not just a hike, it’s an experience - where nature, history, and spirituality come together beautifully.
