Every garage or shop has a few hammers of various sizes, shapes and uses. Some projects call for a mallet with a rubberized head to keep from marking the surface. What to do if you don't have a rubber mallet handy?
Joe has a simple solution: make your own rubber mallet out of a standard hammer and an item you probably have in your junk drawer of your kitchen or garage. This non-marring rubber mallet alteration is a temporary fix, too, as you can easily remove the addition to your hammer to return it to its former state.
To make an instant, non-marking rubber mallet, simply find (or purchase) a rubber table leg cap that fits over the tip of the leg to prevent it from marking the floor. Slip the table leg cap over the head of the hammer and tap it into place, and you have an instant non-marking rubber mallet! When you're done, simply pry off the leg cap from the head of the hammer, and you're back to square one.
