Simon Blackburn is a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge and the retired Bertrand Russell Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge.

He is also a Distinguished Professor at the New College of the Humanities, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He has written thirteen books on philosophy, which have been translated into more than twenty languages. They include the Oxford Dictionary of Philosophy, Truth: A Guide for the Perplexed, and Ruling Passions.

Simon is a Fellow of the British Academy, an Honorary Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. He delivered the Einstein lectures at the University of Bern this year.
