An important workshop in our ‘Develop Together’ life skills programme is a practical workshop in CPR and first aid. Knowing how to save a life is the ultimate life skill! 32 Student Development Team members, coaches and senior students attended this important training. The training was kindly provided by senior medics from the Mines Advisory Group (MAG).

Students were given information on basic first aid and how to treat common injuries around the home and farm and the importance of hygiene and clean water. Students also learnt about the impact of UXO accidents and saw horrific examples of UXO related injuries. After a morning of theory, after lunch students were given the opportunity to practice some of these essential life skills.

Lone Buffalo have worked with MAG for many years. We currently assist MAG with capacity building objectives by providing English training for office staff and we reserve several study places for MAG staff’s children. several Lone Buffalo alumni have successful careers at MAG after completing university. It’s a great example of how INGO’s can work together for the benefit of the communities they serve. At the end of the training 4 more senior students received their DevTog 4 shirts for regular workshop attendance.

Since we began life skills programmes at Lone Buffalo 221 students have received CPR training.
