A few cautious steps echoed with a quiet knock - there
was a reservoir underground.
I raised my head and in the cracks of the dome the setting
sun broke into a hundred fragments.
No hum of mechanisms, no noise of power lines, sensors
and alarms.
The Biodome was no longer in use.
Its outer wall has long since collapsed, releasing
everything we tried so vainly to preserve.
The dome was empty, yet full. Full as ever.
Shadows are getting thicker.
I lay my old uniform on the pale green moss and turn
around.
Wrapped in vines, the symbol of the Earth-Heritage sees
me off with a tired look.
It's a long way back.
