Gebrochene Scharniere des "Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E145" reparieren

Описание к видео Gebrochene Scharniere des "Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E145" reparieren

(English description available!)

Step by Step:

In short:
1. Open the cover
2. Loosen the screws and drill the holes
3. Fix the hinges with new Screws
4. Cover screw-heads with hot-melt adhesive (optional)

Tools:
a) Four thread screw
b) Nuts and washers
c) Screw-driver, pincers, metal-drill (diamter: 4mm) & hot-melt-gun

Steps in detail:
1.) Shut the laptop down, remove the battery and push the start button for a few seconds. Then turn the laptop around, open the covers and remove the marked screws as can be seen in 2:17. These are the ones which lock the keyboard into position. Now remove the keyboard by pushing it up with a little pressure and remove the marked screws as can be seen in 2:45.
After the holding screws are loosened we can carefully open the upper cover (keep calm on this task!).

2.) Now we should be able to see the broken parts which used to holdour hinges. Loosen the screws on these parts plus the VGA adapter on the left side. If you place your laptop as can be seen in 3:35 you'll be able to see two holes already existing. In order to have more stability, we drill two more holes in the marked spots (3:46). For this I used a metal-drilling-bit with diameter of 4mm, which is 1mm smaller than the used screw.
Fold a paper multiple times and place it under the spot where you're going to open the new holes.

3.) As could already be seen in the beginning, we need 4 screws of different length. In this video the order of 2 screws is messed up, so you have to look for yourself which screw fits the best at the spots. The smallest screw might not fit as easily as the rest since the plastic is blocking its path. To make it easier you could scrape off a little of the plastic with a bigger drilling-bit.
Now lock the screws in combination with nuts and washers. The hinges should now be stable again.

4.) Remove the protruding plastic parts on the covers to make room for the freshly installed nuts. Now that the job is done follow the steps backwards and reinstall the cover. Your casing might not fit a 100% as can bee seen at 6:00. However, this shouldn't be a problem anymore since the hinges are now locked sufficiently lest the casing breaks. I don't recommend to glue the gaps or else it'll be hard for you to open it again if need be.
At last we can cover the screws heads with hot-melt adhesive lest they scratch the table. (Though I made the experience that they keep falling off from time to time)

Finished!
