Presenters from UW Farm include: Perry Acworth, UW Farm manager and student leads Eric Alipio, Native Garden; and Theo Wright, Wapato Pond.

The session offers a discussion of student-powered efforts to promote native seed saving and food sovereignty. The presenters' work challenges corporate control of the seed supply by preserving culturally significant, heirloom, and climate-resilient varieties. Projects like the Native Garden, Burke Meadow, and Wapato Pond, all UW projects, connect Native students and community members to the land, honor traditional food knowledge, and address food insecurity. Together, these initiatives show how seed saving supports biodiversity, cultural preservation, and community health while advancing more locally grounded food systems.
