This is Kelsey from Salient Marketing and today I want to answer the question should I link my Facebook and Twitter accounts. If you don't know already, there's a way to link your accounts so that when you post on one, it automatically translates to the other.

But today I want to talk to you about why this is not a good idea. Many businesses think it's an efficient way to post on two networks at once, however the problem is that these networks have different audiences. On Facebook, people expect no more than a few posts a week because it ends up in their newsfeed. On Twitter, however, it's an up to the minute network where frequent updates are expected. Another reason is that the languages are different. On Twitter, there are hash tags and tags, which on Facebook will not translate and also posts on Facebook can be longer and will be cut off by Twitter's maximum character count. So my advice is that if you don't have time to dedicate to both networks, is to choose the one that will best serve your business and focus your energy on that.
