A total of 16+ water vessels commute from 6:00am to 10:00am daily, making it easier to commute to Karwan Bazar, Moghbazar, Eskaton, Bangla Motor and Tejgaon areas from Badda, Gulshan, Rampura, and other nearby parts of the city.
Currently, the service runs on different routes – Gudaraghat in Gulshan 1 to Police Plaza Concord to FDC, Merul-Badda to FDC and FDC to Merul Badda Police Plaza Concord and Gudaraghat.
The vessels are of different sizes and capacities — they carry a minimum 30 people to as high as 90 on a busy day. The water taxi ride in the lake is completely safe as the operating boats are made of unsinkable fiberglass. Besides, life jackets and lifeguards are available on board in case of any emergency.
One can take a ride availing ticket from the counters. The fare seems reasonable - Gulshan 1 to FDC cost Tk 30, FDC to Rampura cost Tk 25, Rampura to Gulshan Police Plaza cost Tk 10.(*Price may increase now). Around 1200 to 1500 tickets are sold each day, which increases during holidays.
