Coastal Erosion. Throwing Caution to the Wind in Daly City.

There is a fascinating legacy of landslides, cliff collapses and coastal erosion disasters on the Daly City coast including failed train tracks, highways and housing. Daly City was found to be one of the most risky sites in California for collapsing cliffs by a 2017 University of California study using lidar technology. The mighty San Andreas earthquake fault is a 1/4 mile off shore from Daly City. Thornton State Beach in Daly City was closed in 2009 due to landslides and safety concerns but recently reopened.

Daly City also has a great place for axe throwing and we visit Bad Axe Sports Club (Bad Axe San Francisco) to take part in this growing sport. Besides having fun throwing axes we pick up some axe throwing techniques.

Daly City has the busy Serramonte mall. First, this place is unusual because it's a mall that is actually busy and successful. We go to the mall to eat raw fish or sushi at Izumi Sushi. The restaurant has the Japanese Kaiten style revolving conveyer belt of sushi and miniature bullet train delivers special orders.
