Serious Song and Jingle Bells (BIU004) is part of the Incredibly Useful Series, an expandable and flexible format allowing performance by as few as four and as many as four thousand players. The first and second parts are doubles at the octave to enable the settings to be utilized as full band or orchestra pieces. Each set offers two works, usually contrasting in style by complimentary in performing difficulty. Transposed parts in B flat, E flat and F included with concert pitch and bass clef.

Rum-Bah (YMB013) features elements of that ever-popular style - Latin American music. The catchy melodies and persistent Latin rhythms will quickly establish this piece as a band favourite and a sure audience-pleaser. The rhythm parts in Rum-Bah are challenging, so this could be an ideal piece to extend and feature your percussion players. All instruments in this section are of equal importance and players must pay attention to their blending, balance and unity.

No More Blues (YMB011) is another piece from the pen of Brian West that is easily accessible to young players and also easily accessible to their audiences. The medium tempo swing style of the piece will surely set toes tapping both in and out of the band.

The Spook (BMC010) – as darkness descends, the mood is tense - The Spook is near! It wanders through the darkness enjoying the scary effect it has on those silly Human Beings. Alas, as dawn approaches so does The Spook's arch enemy - light and happiness. It is forced into hiding, but only until tonight.

Clowning Around (BMC033) - everyone loves a circus! Come inside the Big Top, hear the master of Ceremonies and view the Grand parade. Imagine the lights dimming and a lone spotlight focusing up high to the graceful trapeze artist. Finally, follow the crazy antics of those lovable characters with the painted faces and big noses, simply clowning around.

Quiet Moments (BMC036) requires the young band to play at many dynamic levels, yet maintain balance, tone and tuning within a modal setting. Phrasing is important and young players must learn to play through to the end of a musical idea, not cut it short due to a lack of breath support.

Hornpipe (BMC039) is a work for young band with the vigour and life found in Irish folk music. The modal nature of the work, and the avoidance of traditional "western" chord progressions give this work its unusual but infectious appeal.

City Life (BMC038) - life in the city is not always smooth and peaceful! The associated sound are a mixture of consonance and dissonance. This piece features an interplay of simple, repetitive melodies against clashing sounds of semitone intervals in order to create a 'tension and release' effect.

Skeleton Dance (BMC028) - with visions of a marionette show with slightly uncontrolled and quirky movement of the skeleton-like puppets, resulting in a near 'comical' dance sequence, Skeleton Dance is a great work to introduce young players to playing a chromatic scale.
