Recently, we had the opportunity to visit a tribal village located in the Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh. This district is unique as some of its areas are submerged beneath the backwaters of the Sardar Sarovar dam, situated on the Narmada River. Within these backwaters, the tribal communities engage in the traditional practice of catching fresh fish.

During our visit, we were fortunate enough to join the tribal members in this age-old fishing activity. The experience was truly exceptional as we immersed ourselves in the serene ambience of the lake, nestled amidst lush hills and dense jungle. The highlight of the day was savoring the freshly caught fish, expertly prepared by the tribal hosts, and served to us in leaves. This extraordinary experience left us with a profound appreciation for the unique lifestyle and flavours of the tribal communities in this region.
