Saving 30,000 Baby Lobsters!

Hey everyone, I'm here with an incredibly special video that not only ties to my family's legacy but also contributes to a vital conservation effort. Today, I’m doing something I’ve never done before—legally catching and keeping an egg-bearing lobster. This might sound shocking as it’s usually very illegal to disturb these crucial breeders of the lobster population. However, this mission is all in the name of science and sustainability.

Join me as I partner with the Bar Harbor Oceanarium to support their hatchery program, an ambitious project aiming to hatch and raise about 30,000 lobsters. This isn't just about expanding the population; it's about learning, preserving, and ensuring a future for the species. The egg-bearing lobster, affectionately known as the ‘mother lobster,’ will be under the expert care of the Oceanarium’s team to safely bring thousands of baby lobsters into the world.

One of the most heartwarming parts of this adventure is the personal connection. My grandfather was the last in our family to aid a Maine lobster hatchery program decades ago, and now I have the honor to contribute in my own way. It’s a full circle moment this Mother’s Day, bringing new life and hope to our lobster populations.

Once the eggs have successfully hatched, and the babies are stable, we plan to return the mother lobster safely back to the ocean. And yes, if all goes well, I’ll be keeping one of the baby lobsters to raise myself, documenting every step of its growth for you all.
