HEDGEHOG FACTS 🦔 - Rat flap at the hedgehog house, do I need that❓

Описание к видео HEDGEHOG FACTS 🦔 - Rat flap at the hedgehog house, do I need that❓

This video clip is about the rat flap.

🐀 RAT FLAP
A rat flap can be attached to a sleeping house or hedgehog feeding station to prevent rats or mice from entering. Depending on how exactly the flap fits into the opening, it can also reduce or prevent the ingress of snails or flies. Most rats don't like it when the flap has to be pushed away when entering, and it brushes over their backs when going through. The hedgehog has to push the flap with his snout forward when praying or when leaving the house, once he has learned it is no problem for him. If the hedgehog has problems with the flap at the beginning, you can start with a closed and an open flap, or put some dry cat food directly behind the flaps to create an incentive for him to press his snout against the flap to get to the food get. Have no problem with the small rodents in your garden, a rat flap is not absolutely necessary. At my hedgehog feeding station I simply stapled rat flaps made of pond liner, these make less noise when they swing, but serve their purpose just as well as flaps made of wood that are screwed on with a small hinge. I have no flaps on my sleeping houses because I have no problems with rats or mice there.
