NHL Skating Standards

Описание к видео NHL Skating Standards

The new age defensemen is upon us. These NHL Skating standards are the new direction of defensemen. Join us for an in depth look at Rasmus Dahlin and how he is helping to rewrite how new age defensemen skate in today's NHL.

What sets Dahlin apart is his simplicity in footwork, making it look effortless. While many players rely on crossovers to move laterally, Dahlin utilizes the shuffle, soft drag, corkscrew, and the 10 and 2 technique, both forwards and backwards. His ability to seamlessly transition between these movements allows him to mirror his opponents and maintain superior control without overcommitting.

🕷️ One prime example is when he closes the gap on his opponent in the corner, using a combination of shuffle, corkscrew, and the 10 and 2 technique. This spider-like agility is a result of not getting locked into one direction, ensuring he's always ready to make a move.

🔄 Similarly, Dahlin's backward mechanics are equally impressive. He employs a backward corkscrew and a no-crossover pivot, effectively closing the gap with ease. Even in situations where a crossover is required, his efficient mechanics give him the edge.

🏒 Many players are told not to cross their feet while defending but struggle with lateral movement. The shuffle, corkscrew, soft drag, and 10 and 2 are the keys to moving laterally without crossing over, and we teach these essential mechanics through the Downhill Skating System.
