PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – Looking for an easy Christmas painting idea? Want to do a fun seasonal DIY project? Let me be your acrylic art instructor as I teach you easy step-by-step instructions throughout this fun beginner art video as you learn how to paint Santa Claus—a fun portraiture image “SANTA’S SECRET” with acrylic paint. Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nick, Saint Nicholas, Kris Kringle, or simply, Santa, whatever you choose to call him, I’m sure we can all agree that he is an icon, the embodiment of the Holidays, the face of Christmas, and he has a secret he wants to share about Christmas. But first, let me tell you that I really enjoy the Holiday season with the cheerful music, the bright and colorful decorations, the joyful spirit, the gift-giving, the delicious food, and the classic Holiday movies. But what I love most about the Holidays, is the spirit of it all, and how at least for a time, people come together, and memories are made. That’s Santa’s secret—that things always find a way to work out. It’s that little touch of magic for Christmas to come to life. So, join me and learn how to paint Santa, and share with your friends and family his secret to a happy and merry Christmas! The first lesson you’ll learn is how to draw Santa Claus using an easy dot-to-dot drawing method. Then you’ll use color theory to mix paint for a perfect base coat to start with on Kris Kringle. The next art tip you’ll learn is how to paint Santa’s clothing with a simple dotting and stippling technique, making it look so realistic that you could almost reach out and touch the cotton. Then you’ll create realistic looking dimension with properly placed highlights and shadows on Father Christmas's clothing to accentuate the fabric, followed by layering colors to create a realistic 3-D effect like a photograph. You’ll learn how to blend colors to make flesh tones that you’ll use to paint his skin with. You’ll use various layers and shades of skin tones to add contours and wrinkles to create form and depth to Santa’s face. You’ll then learn how to paint facial features, including twinkling blue eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes, a mouth and lips. You’ll learn how to paint a beard using a one brushstroke and directional brushstroke to create movement in the facial hair. Then you'll learn to paint the glove on his hand and draw eyeglasses with reflections in the lenses of complimentary colors from the surrounding objects to enhance the shine and perspective while also learning how the importance of size-ratio and proportion play a key role in creating the three-dimensional effect of the spectacles. Using only 3 brushes and 6 colors we'll create this storybook Christmas painting that is sure to spark conversation and bring a smile to everyone’s face. Not just a beautiful painting, but an easy one for beginners. So, let's get painting and let's get sipping!
