From the Vault: Heinrich Himmler's Walther PP Pistol

Brownells Gun Techs and firearm historians Keith and Steve are back at Rock Island Auction Company to show us a one-of-a-kind World War II relic. The gun is an extremely ornate Walther PP once owned by Heinrich Himmler, chief of the Schutzstaffel (SS) and No. 2 in the Nazi leadership after Adolf Hitler. Released in 1929, the double-action, blowback operated PP (Polizeipistole) was ahead of its time - and is still in production today. This gun is chambered in 7.65mm Browning, aka .32 ACP, and is an early example of the PP, the predecessor of the smaller and more famous Walther PPK. It's a chrome-plated presentation pistol with full-coverage engraving, strictly a display piece, not a daily carry gun or shooter. It's in impressive, pristine condition - and how did it find its way to the United States? Most likely sneaked home in a soldier's duffle bag!
