Iran-China professional conference on quality concerns and inland motorcycle manufacturing was held at Ferdowsi Hotel in Tehran; among the attendees were members of the Iran Motorcycle Industry Association, businessmen, investors and representatives of the Chinese embassy in Iran attended the event.

650,000 motorcycles are expected to be produced in 1402 solar year (2023-2024)

In the event, and speaking of motorcycle production in Iran, Dr. Majid Rezaei, vice-chairman of the Iran Motorcycle Industry Association and member of KAVIR Motor Board of Directors said: "In the past ten years, and with ups and downs on the way, almost 3.7 million motorcycles have been produced in Iran. However, motorcycle production has witnessed an ascending trend in the past four years and it is forecasted that in 1402 solar year (2023-2024) 650 thousand units are produced".

Presenting Iran motorcycle industry, Vice-Chairman Rezaei asserted that motorcycle industry in Iran has created 16,000 jobs directly and a further 50,000 indirectly, and added: "the economic situation in Iran amidst the harshest, cruel international sanctions against the country, the 20 million litres share of Tehran of a total of 120 million litres of daily domestic petroleum consumption, the 90% fuel subsidy offered by the government, high levels of air pollution and traffic congestion in metropolises due to the lack of sufficient infrastructures for public transportation, and problems in getting access to foreign currencies, have all highlighted the exceptionally crucial role of motorcycle as means of transportation in Iran when compared to other countries".

Speaking of the significant effect of substituting motorcycles for cars on air pollution reduction, Dr. Rezaei said: "Substituting motorcycle for a 2000 cc car results in a mileage reduction of 80% (from 15 litres to 3 litres per 100 kilometres), with significant positive impact on traffic congestion, public health (via air pollution reduction), need for foreign currencies, parking space problem, and maintenance costs".
