Baseball's Self-Destructive Arms Race

Another day, another controversy in Major League Baseball. This time, it's something that's been slowly bubbling to the surface over the past few years: Pitchers are getting severely injured in greater numbers. Several big names (Eury Perez, Shane Bieber, Gerrit Cole, and Spencer Strider) have either undergone season-ending surgery or may need it in the near future. On top of all the other headaches baseball's dealing with, this one might be the most critical. It is their product that's being damaged, after all.
