Critical Stone Crusher Mantle Swap Operation: Safety Challenges & Engineering Solutions

Описание к видео Critical Stone Crusher Mantle Swap Operation: Safety Challenges & Engineering Solutions

In this video, we address a critical issue in modern techniques for lifting the mantle from the shaft. The current method involves welding two metal plates with holes onto the large and thick mantle, then using chains and a forklift to lift it off. This process is hazardous due to the significant thickness difference between the parts, making proper welding challenging.

Many workers worldwide have suffered injuries or fatalities when these welds fail, causing the mantle to crush those underneath. You can see the small plates already attached to the mantle at 16:16 in the video.

Our bachelor thesis in Mechanical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology offers insights into this issue and proposes a safer solution. You can find our work here: http://studentarbeten.chalmers.se/pub....

Although the text is in Swedish, the proposed solution is still accessible and worth a look.
