Are GARMIN Radar lights worth the money

What’s a radar and why should you have one on your bike?
How come when I tested it I had a car follow me and it did not show up on the radar?
Will it work in a group ride? Do I need to have a Garmin bike computer to use the Garmin radar?
Do I still need to turn my head and look behind me?
