Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, commonly known as Mahindra, is an Indian multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is one of the largest and most prominent Indian corporations with a diverse business portfolio that includes automobiles, aerospace, agribusiness, construction equipment, defense, energy, finance, hospitality, information technology, leisure and hospitality, real estate, retail, and telecommunications.

The company was founded in 1945 as Mahindra & Mohammed by brothers J.C. Mahindra and K.C. Mahindra, along with Malik Ghulam Mohammed. Initially, the company started as a steel trading company in Ludhiana, Punjab. However, after India gained independence in 1947, Ghulam Mohammed migrated to Pakistan and the company's name was changed to Mahindra & Mahindra.

In the early years, Mahindra & Mahindra focused on manufacturing utility vehicles, agricultural tractors, and commercial vehicles. In 1949, the company introduced its first vehicle, the iconic Willys Jeep, under a license agreement with Willys-Overland Corporation. This marked Mahindra's entry into the automotive industry.

Over the years, Mahindra expanded its product range and diversified into various sectors. In the 1990s, the company ventured into international markets and established joint ventures and partnerships to strengthen its global presence. Mahindra acquired several companies, including South Korea's SsangYong Motor Company in 2011, Reva Electric Car Company (now Mahindra Electric) in 2010, and Pininfarina S.p.A. in 2015.

Today, Mahindra is known for its popular SUVs, such as the Scorpio, XUV500, and Thar, as well as its range of agricultural tractors. The company has a significant presence in the Indian automotive market and has expanded its operations to over 100 countries worldwide.
