Join us on a road trip through southern Spain as we drive from Cartagena to Mijas/Fuengirola, choosing the coastal motorway over the mountain route suggested by the navigator.

This 458 km journey takes approximately 4.5–5 hours, following smooth motorway roads almost the entire way. The route runs via A-30, RM-2, RM-23, RM-3, AP-7, A-7 and MA-20, offering an easy and efficient drive, especially for motorhomes and campervans.

Along the way, we pass several noteworthy cities and coastal areas, including:

📍 Vera – a popular stop for vanlifers
📍 Almería – dramatic landscapes and desert scenery
📍 Motril – a gateway to the Costa Tropical

Originally, the navigation suggested a mountain route, but we opted for the coastal motorway, which turned out to be faster, smoother and far less demanding. A perfect choice when you want to cover distance comfortably and still enjoy Mediterranean views.

🥏 Our journey ends at a true highlight: DiscGolfPark Mijas, one of the most impressive disc golf courses in southern Europe. Set in the hills above the Costa del Sol, the course offers stunning views, technical fairways and a unique playing experience. It's an absolute must-visit for disc golfers traveling in Spain. Nearby options like Glamping Costa del Sol also make this area an excellent overnight stop.

Ajoimme Cartagenasta Fuengirolaan noin 458 kilometrin matkan, joka kesti reilut 4,5–5 tuntia. Navi ehdotti aluksi vuoristoreittiä, mutta valitsimmekin sujuvamman ja nopeamman rantamotarin.

Reitti kulki pääosin moottoriteitä pitkin ja vei ohi useiden mainitsemisen ja vierailun arvoisten paikkakuntien, kuten Mazarrónin, Veran, Almerían, Motrilin, Nerjan ja Malagan. Tällä kertaa ei kuitenkaan tehty kaupunkistoppeja.

Päätepisteenä oli DiscGolfPark Mijas, yksi Etelä-Espanjan vaikuttavimmista frisbeegolfradoista. Korkealla rinteessä sijaitseva rata tarjoaa upeat näkymät, teknisiä väyliä ja ainutlaatuisen pelikokemuksen. Se on ehdoton kohde frisbeegolfaajalle Aurinkorannikolla.
