EASY 2011-2014 Jetta STICKY IGNITION FIX!

How I fixed the sticky ignition on my 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. These cars are known to have had this issue for years (according to my internet research). Ignition tumblers are hard to turn and can get the key stuck in the off or start positions. This is due to an issue with the steering lock mechanism in the steering column (which is what the ignition switch turns inside and binds against). Also applicable to some years of Golf and Passat.

**According to Volkswagen, there is an extended warranty available up to 10yr/100K miles for this malfunctioning steering lock mechanism. You may want to call your local dealership and see if you can get this fixed for free first! **

Graphite (dry) lubricant can be found at any major retailer or online. Any brand should work. I used "3-in-1" brand Dry Lock Lube.
