And in this day and age, Google is your best bet and there are also lots and lots of videos on this YouTube talking about different routes to relocating to different countries. All you need to do is search and you will see the videos. Don't restrict yourself to one country. Some countries are stepping stones to your final destination. If you see an opportunity in such countries, take it. Sometimes going through the study route is best because some countries only hire from within their country. While studying in those countries, you can attend an open day and be hired from there.

Good luck in your search.

UPDATE 2020:
If you have seen the news recently, you would have heard that oil price is in the negative territory which means one barrel of oil is less than $0! It´s a technical crash quite alright but this is the first time that is happening in the history of oil prices.

Oil prices have been on a steady decline in recent years for this reason a career in the oil industry is no longer the sought-after career. The reigning careers now are in IT (read TECH) and Alternative Energy.

During my time, I was not even thinking about moving abroad, all I needed was a job after NYSC. I applied to the company at NYSC camp and was hired after a long interview process that took place over a 1 year period. Then I was sent to the UK for my posting. So you can try the same by applying to international companies within Nigeria first (if any) then see if they have opportunities for cross posting abroad.

BOSIET & HUET
BOSIET is Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training
HUET is Helicopter Underwater Escape Training.
Remember: you do not need to know how to swim to pass these trainings.

Divers are on standby in the water in case anything happens. The orange suit makes you float so once you leave the helicopter, the only way for you to go is up. Just don't panic! Yes, I have seen very good swimmers panic during the training.

HUET Videos
In some of these videos, they are not wearing the full gear. Full gear includes a floating suit and a breathing device.
