Lecture on "Nanoparticles " , by Ms. Saman Aqeel , Assistant Professor, IIMT College of Pharmacy, Greater Noida

Nanoparticles are tiny particles of matter that range in size from 1 to 100 nanometers in
diameter. They are also known as ultrafine particles. Nanoparticles can have different
physical and chemical properties than larger materials and are invisible to the naked eye.
Nanoparticles can be used in a variety of applications, including:
Medicine:
Magnetic nanoparticles can be used to track the spread of cancer in lymph nodes. Organic
nanoparticles are used in targeted drug delivery and cancer therapy.
Environmental remediation:
Carbon nanotubes can be used as gas adsorbents.
Fillers:
Carbon nanotubes can be used as fillers in commercial applications.
Catalysts:
Carbon nanotubes can be used as support mediums for organic and inorganic catalysts.
Nanoparticles can be inhaled or injected and may enter the bloodstream, where they can
reach other organs and tissues. Inhaling nanoparticles can cause a range of health issues,
including inflammation, asthma, fibrosis, chronic inflammatory lung diseases, and
carcinogenesis.
