The Sony 35mm f/1.8 and the Sony 50mm f/1.8 are two of the best lenses for the Sony A6000. I use both of them frequently for my portrait photography and fashion shots.

Both lenses are incredibly high quality in terms of sharpness, autofocus, and low light performance.

The two main differences between the Sony 35mm f/1.8 and the Sony 50mm f/1.8 are: the field of view and the price.

The SEL35F18 really excels in environmental portraits, full body portraits, half body portraits and more. For the past two years, I've used it as my main portrait lens for my A6000 (90-95% of my work on Instagram is shot with this lens)

But the SEL50F18 is no chump when it comes to shooting portraits. It excels for headshots and getting superior bokeh, as you can see from my review of the 50mm lens:

If you're on a tight budget, want to maximize your bokeh, and prefer shooting headshots then go with the 50mm f/1.8.

If you don't mind spending $450 on a lens, want some more flexibility in your lens, and love capturing environmental portraits then the 35mm f/1.8 will be best for you.

If you're like me then just buy them both and use each in the appropriate situations.
