Is it raining Sakura? We visited this old village and it’s worth it! • Samurai Village Kakunodate

Samurai Village, Kakunodate is a famous tourist spot located in Akita Prefecture. Kakunodate was founded in 1620 by Ashina Yoshikatsu (1575–1631), the younger brother of the ruler of the Akita Domain. The village is known for its weeping Sakura and Samurai traditions that can still be observed until today. It also features Samurai houses that were able to preserve their family's artifacts. The place is most crowded during April-May as people from other prefectures visit the place too mostly for Sakura viewing.

There are various accommodations available in the area but the hotel we featured in our video is Machiya Hotel Kakukan. It costs 10,000 yen per person per night but we had a prefecture discount of 10,000 yen plus we got a coupon worth 4,000 yen that we could spend around the area. You can find good deals in the internet too.
