Threnodìa is a mourning song, a hymn, or a poem.
In this case it's an instrumental piece dedicated to the antropologist E. de Martino.
He spent most of his life observing and reporting mysteries in the South of Italy.

A mad behaviour, when ritualized, keeps madness away. Music is part of the ritual.
Now.. southern lamentations, by timely reenacting expressions of pain (pain that would occour anyway but in a less controlled environment) would serve as intelligent and organic rituals to better deal with the aliveness of death.

In few words.. EDM found depth in many primitive behaviours... and primitivism in some modern ones!

For that and for other reasons, I believe he deserved a Trenodía himself.
