How to feed Ducks

A duck's perfect diet is 15% crude protein. I know the bag labels can be confusing, but 16% minimum crude protein is usually actually about 18% protein. When you see the minimum, automatically add 2% for reality though that can be as much higher as 6%. If you want to know your feed's actual protein, you can contact the manufacturer but you will need to get past customer service as they will only give you label information. I do not seem to know how to stress this so it is understood or maybe some people just do not care. Too much protein is no better than poison! If you feed a duck above 20% protein even compensating with enough offsetting niacin, they will not live more than about 6-8 years and average lifespan is actually only 3 years. A domesticated duck's natural lifespan is upwards towards 30 years;
