After first making the layout almost 3 years ago this level is finally put to rest. Ive wanted to finish this for the longest time since this is one of my best layouts. I started decorating this around 2 years ago and stopped halfway through the first drop. I started to get really demotivated since I felt like the level just didn’t look good even though I spent so much time on it. I gave up on it but I still thought about it occasionally and knew I should finish it someday.

Then, around a month ago I got the most random motivation to work on it again. I completely scrapped the drops original deco and worked on a new design for it. And it so happened to be one of my best looking parts ive ever made. Seeing how good this looked kept my motivation, and I began working on it more and more. To me, the predrop was really iconic and I didn’t want to just scrap it so I instead revamped it to look a lot better. I did scrap the ball’s original deco though. Even with the revamp it still looks a little outdated but I did the best I could without losing the feel of the original deco, and I like how it turned out.

I always had a vision for the other parts of the level and im really proud of how I lived up to it and even went beyond it. I nailed how I wanted the second drop to look almost perfectly, and the ending too. 2.2 really helped this level out a lot and helped bring my ideas to life with this level. I love the ending of this level so much and it is probably the part I worked the most on.


A few things about this level:

It doesn’t particularly have a theme to it, I just built whatever felt right for each section. I wanted each part to somehow correlate to other parts of the level though, building off the same effects / deco used before and using it in a different way. And i didnt want any part to be so abstractly different hence why I scrapped some deco I had before.

I do not consider this to be a reta level. The only part of this level that was supposed to have a reta like theme is the part before the staricase. The drop is somewhat inspired by a reta level, but it wasn’t supposed to fully be like one.

The word “Kuesuto” is japanese for quest, which i felt fit the level well because of its song and many different themed parts you go through.

I had a few small inspirations for this level from other levels but this level is supposed to be its own original thing. It isn’t based off anything and the deco is all from me.

As for difficulty I have no clue cuz im biased, I think this could be anywhere from 600-800 on the AREDL
Imo it’s harder than gravity easier than motorbreath

oh also note at 1:56 in the final version I extended out the platform instead of adding an invisible block, that’s why it looks different but it doesn’t affect any of the gameplay
