Finally, after longed anticipation and waiting, I managed to head out to the San Bernardino Transit Center and check out the station along with the newly added Metrolink train activity. This station serves as the very first extension of the Inland Empire - Orange County line since 1995 in addition to the first extension of the San Bernardino Line since 1993. It also serves as the basis for the future Redlands Passenger Rail Project, with planned DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) operations from this station to the city of Redlands and possibly Metrolink service as well. The transit center itself had already been opened since 2015 for bus service, but Metrolink service and construction of the platforms / facilities were not completed until late 2017, with service starting soon thereafter. Prior to railfanning here, I had originally anticipated Metrolink to use the station as a layover or storage facility for overnight trains, but it appears as though most trains were deadheaded in from the Metrolink Eastern Maintenance Facility further to the west of the San Bernardino Santa Fe Depot, likely due to the lack of security and facilities needed for overnight storage. All in all though, the station is decently nice, with substantial amenities and a nice place to catch a train. It also should be interesting to see the future Redlands rail service operating in only a couple years time.

Train 1 : Metrolink #313 with CabCar #657 & F59PH #862. With just a minute to spare, I was able to barely make it to the station at the break of dawn and catch #313 departing for Los Angeles.
