2- *White Mycelium:* Under high humidity conditions, white mycelium (fungal threads) may develop on the surface of the lesions.
3- *Rapid Spread:* The disease can cause rapid fruit decay, leading to significant yield losses if left unchecked.
4- *Stem and Leaf Symptoms:* In some cases, the disease may cause wilting of stems and leaves, but these symptoms are less common compared to the fruit rot.

*Causes:*
1- Buckeye Rot is caused by the oomycete (water mold) pathogen Phytophthora capsici.
2- It is favored by warm and wet conditions, particularly in regions with high humidity and rainfall.
3- The pathogen can survive in the soil and plant debris, allowing it to persist and infect new crops.

*Spread:*
The pathogen spreads through splashing water, irrigation, contaminated tools, equipment, and plant material.
Warm and wet conditions, especially during rain or irrigation events, facilitate the spread of the disease.

*Preventive Measures:*
1. *Crop Rotation:* Avoid planting tomatoes in fields where the disease was present in the previous year. Rotate with non-host crops.
2. *Soil Drainage:* Improve soil drainage to prevent waterlogged conditions that favor disease development.
3. *Resistant Varieties:* Choose tomato varieties that are resistant to Phytophthora diseases whenever possible.
4. *Site Selection:* Opt for well-drained planting sites with good air circulation to minimize favorable conditions for the pathogen.
