Lost Soul Aside is a visually stunning, fast-paced action RPG that finally launched on PS5 and PC in August 2025. Developed by Ultizero Games in Shanghai and originally started as a one-man project by Yang Bing back in 2014, the game grew into a full-fledged title under Sony’s China Hero Project.

You play as Kaser, a young warrior on a desperate mission to save his sister Louisa and protect humanity from the alien Voidrax invaders. Joined by Arena, a supernatural dragon-like entity fused to him, Kaser gains dramatic combat potential. Arena can transform into various weapons or unleash powerful abilities such as Crystal Blast, Frost Blast, and Mountain Break.

Combat is the heart of Lost Soul Aside. Players can seamlessly switch between sword, greatsword, poleblade, and scythe mid-combo, chaining lightning-fast attacks with Arena’s powers to create stylish, cinematic battles. Inspired by classics like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, and Bayonetta, the gameplay emphasizes fluid movement, aerial juggling, and endless combo variety.

The story spans multiple worlds and dimensions, forcing Kaser to cross war-torn landscapes, meet allies, and confront epic bosses such as the Rose Queen, the Ancient Mecha, and finally Aramon, commander of the Voidrax.

With an anime-inspired aesthetic reminiscent of Final Fantasy XV, the game blends fantasy with high-fidelity realism, offering 4K visuals, ray tracing, HDR, and PS5 features like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and 3D audio.

While praised for its stylish combat and visuals, the release was accompanied by performance issues and unstable framerates. Despite this, Lost Soul Aside stands as a milestone of Chinese AAA development, evolving from a solo dream project into an ambitious international release.
