Rajnath Bats For India-Russia

Last week, during his visit to Russia, India’s defence minister Rajnath Singh spoke frankly about the heights and depths of the friendship between the two countries.

It’s truly a relationship that has stood the test of time and evolving geopolitics. Despite immense pressure from the West to condemn Russia’s ‘invasion’ of Ukraine, India hasn’t done so.

On the other hand, PM Modi has reiterated his stand that this isn’t an era of war and has met the leaders of Russia and Ukraine more than once to keep the channels of communication open.

Defence has been a cornerstone of the India-Russia bilateral relationship. While in Russia, Rajnath vowed to expand defence and military ties but also put forth India’s quest for self-reliance in defence.
