Recently, this site was hacked, and the SEO metadata of the home page was replaced with one in a foreign language.
When we searched for free video workshop, the following foreign language listing showed up, although the site is in English.
We now want to change this listing information to a preferred one in English.
In other words, we want to change the SEO title and the Meta description displayed in the search engine results.
This also applies if you want to change the title and description tags for an existing or a new site.
There are two ways to do this.
The first method is through your WordPress settings panel.
Click on Settings on your WordPress dashboard.
Under General Settings, enter your Site title.
Then, enter your tagline, which will be your site description.
Then scroll down and click on Save Changes.
Search engines will pick up this new information when crawling your site.
The second method is through a free WordPress plugin called Yoast SEO.
Go to plugins in your WordPress dashboard.
Then select Add new plugin.
Search for Yoast.
We have installed the plugin. So, it's showing active.
If you're a new user, click on Install Now and follow the steps.
When installation is complete, go to Yoast SEO.
Then select Settings.
Under content types, select Homepage.
You can now fill in the details of your homepage title and description.
Google should now index your homepage with the updated information.
This may take time.
However, you can speed up the process.
If you have a Google search console account, you can request for page indexing to reflect the new SEO information.
In the Google Search Console dashboard, choose URL inspection.
Enter your homepage URL.
Here, we find that the homepage URL is not on Google.
So, we'll click on request indexing.
Then, wait for the home page to be indexed by Google.
