Maaye Varnam || Anashwara Dance Academy || Ayurnadanam 2022 || 2nd Prize Winners

Proud and overjoyed to share that this performance was done as part of an All Kerala Bharatanatyam Competition named " Ayurnadanam 2022 " conducted by Sri Mudra Kala Gurukulam which comes under the renowned Sri Swami Vaidhya Gurukulam,Perumbavoor.

This presentation is very special to Anashwara Dance Academy since we were able to portray this Devi Varnam to the level best and were blessed and contented to receive the statue of Amman herself studded with an emerald on her chest; being the First Runner up. A cash prize of ₹40,001 was also presented to us by the authority of Gurukulam on the auspicious occasion. We thank every single person who had put great efforts to make this a memorable one.


Maaye in the magnificent ragam Simhendramadhyamam which is set to Aditalam is a beautiful Varnam in praise of the warrior goddess Madhurai Meenakshi, who is considered to be the manifestation of Maaya. She is born from the divine fire of Yagya as the daughter of the king of Madhurai, Malayadhwaja Pandya. She is the most compassionate mother who is well versed in dance, music, instruments, Vedas and also was a brave warrior who victoriosly conquered so many battle fields. She is Mahishasura Mardhini, the sister of Lord Vishnu, who is worshipped and praised In all the worlds, captivates the mind of Lord Shiva through her divine dance. She protects her children and blesses them with the supreme wisdom and that Leads to the path to Salvation.
